Why are NFL Teams so obessed with drafting QBs in the first round and having them be the face of the franchise?

Cause the Quarterback is the most noticed position on the field, they could be considered the keystone of a teams offense. Usually, you can't get a decent enough quarterback in the later rounds, unless you are the Patriots drafting Tom Brady in the 7th round (I think.)
